The Swedish version is the legally binding one. This English text is a courtesy translation provided for convenience. If the two versions differ, the Swedish version prevails.

1. About BetweenShift and who may use the service

BetweenShift is a digital platform for peer conversation and professional development, intended for people over 18 who work or are training within health and social care. You confirm your eligibility when you register. Information about your professional role is self-declared; BetweenShift does not verify or guarantee any user’s identity or professional licence. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.

2. Prohibition on patient data, breaches of confidentiality and medical advice

The service may not be used for patient communication, medical record-keeping, medical advice or the sharing of patient cases. You are personally responsible for complying with Swedish law, your duty of confidentiality and your employer’s internal rules.

  • No patient data: It is strictly prohibited to publish names, personal identity numbers, medical record data, images or descriptions of care situations that directly or indirectly could identify a patient or a colleague. The prohibition applies even if you consider the information to be de-identified.
  • No medical advice or treatment: BetweenShift is peer support, not healthcare, psychotherapy or crisis support. Mentors do not make diagnoses. In an acute crisis or situation of danger, contact 112, 1177 or a psychiatric emergency unit immediately.
  • Duty to report: If BetweenShift becomes aware of a suspected breach of patient safety or of the duty of confidentiality, the company may report this to the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO).

3. Prohibited content and moderation

You may not publish unlawful material, threats, incitement against an ethnic group, copyright-protected material or personal attacks. Publishing such material may constitute defamation under Chapter 5, Section 1 of the Swedish Penal Code. BetweenShift is responsible for moderation and has the right to hide content, and to warn or suspend users. If action is taken against your account you will receive written reasons and have the right to request a review within 48 hours.

4. Blocking and reporting

You can block other users, which closes ongoing conversations and hides you from each other (note that this does not delete the history). Use the reporting function in the app to report content that breaches these terms.

5. Intellectual property

You retain the rights to the content you create. By publishing content you grant BetweenShift a limited right to store, display, technically process and make available that content to the extent needed to provide the service.

You may not publish material that infringes anyone else’s copyright, trade mark or other rights.

6. Membership and subscription

Certain features (forums, chat, mentor booking) require a paid subscription. The purchase is made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. These parties are the merchant of record and handle pricing, tax, receipts and cancellation. If you end your subscription certain features are locked, but your account and your right to already-paid mentor sessions remain. You can always export or request deletion of your data.

7. Mentor sessions and groups: booking, payment and disputes

A mentor session (or a place in a group) constitutes an agreement directly between you and the mentor. BetweenShift is not a party to that agreement.

  • Payment flow: You pay the mentor directly via the payment provider Stripe. BetweenShift never holds your money. The amount is reserved at booking and is only charged once the session has taken place. If the session does not go ahead (for example on cancellation before the start, or if a group does not reach enough participants) the reservation is released automatically.
  • Platform fee: BetweenShift charges a platform fee which is deducted from the mentor’s remuneration. The price you see is the total price.
  • Disputes and objections: If you are dissatisfied you can raise an objection in the app within 7 days of the session ending. The mentor may then choose to refund the amount. If the dispute is not resolved within 72 hours the matter is closed (without a refund from the platform). BetweenShift does not act as a judge of session quality. If the mentor has not written a single message, a refund is issued automatically upon objection.
  • Groups: For mentor-led groups you pay for a place and for the mentor’s presence for a set period. Taking part in a group means other participants can read what you write. If you end your participation early, no refund is normally given.
  • Ratings: After a completed session you can give the mentor a rating between 1 and 5 and a short comment. The average and the number of ratings are shown publicly on the mentor’s profile and in the mentor directory. Only someone who has paid for and completed a session can leave a rating, which is how BetweenShift ensures ratings come from users who have actually had a session.

8. Right of withdrawal, cancellation and closing your account

When you start a digital subscription or begin a booked mentor session immediately, you consent to delivery beginning and your 14-day right of withdrawal under the Swedish Distance Contracts Act therefore lapses. You can close your account at any time. Your user-generated data is then deleted, with the exception of information we are required to retain by law (for example under the Swedish Accounting Act).

9. Limitation of liability and other matters

BetweenShift provides a platform and is not responsible for professional or medical decisions made on the basis of content on the platform. Swedish law applies to these terms. Disputes are heard by a Swedish court or by the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).

Between shifts, and everything in between.
